So hot; that things are literally melting…
So what can we do to cool down?
We could try a cooling dip in the sea, an icy drink or we could turn to JIPL who have their own solution…
FAL Cooling Plant Maintenance
Over 15 years ago JIPL designed, manufactured and installed two cooling plants for Fletcher Aluminum Limited’s (FAL’s) powder coating lines.
FAL has been supplying the industry with quality aluminum extrusions since its inception – providing the industry with raw extrusions, anodized finishing and durable powder coated finishing.
FAL has two continuous powder coating lines; both with curing ovens to melt and cure the powder for a resilient finish. After curing, rapid cooling of the extrusions is required for handling and packaging purposes. Apart from handling considerations, cooling also helps the finish solidify faster, preventing dust adhesion and blemishes from “tacky” coatings when handled.
Naturally, FAL turned to JIPL for their expertise in air handling.
JIPL designed, manufactured and installed the two cooling plants for FAL’s powder coating plant. JIPL implemented their exclusive design for the cooling plants – the Dual Accelerator Airflow with Rotary Discharge Ducts. This design achieves high heat transfer rates (heating and cooling) utilizing ambient air and has proved its success on countless other installations.
The cooling plants are able to cool large and thick extrusions and curing temperatures down to safe handling and “non-tacky” temperature within 2.8 meters.
15 years later in our hot summer of 2016, FAL discovered that some of the galvanized items were rusted due to age and the ingress of water over time.
FAL commissioned JIPL to replace the Rotary Discharge Ducts, which were rusted and leaking air and also to provide a new floor sheet, all consisting of 304 stainless steel. The work performed is part of JIPL’s on-going maintenance and continuing support.
These improvements increase the discharge airflow in the Cooling Plants and reduce the temperature of the products far more effectively and upholds FAL’s high standards of equipment and production.
JIPL provided 8 new specially designed air discharge droppers and new stainless steel floor panels. They removed the existing rusting items and re-designed, manufactured, assembled, installed and commissioned.
The installations were performed by the JIPL team within the specified time frame and to budget. Both cooling plants were refurbished within 2 days, with zero impact on production.
