“When you’re drowning, you don’t say ‘I would be incredibly pleased if someone would have the foresight to notice me drowning and come and help me, you just scream.” John Lennon
Sometimes you have to ask for help. In today’s world – fast paced, goal driven, time poor –it can be hard to know when we need to reach out. We live in a world of easy comparisons and harsh judgement– a better working project is just a Google click away. JIPL specialises in upgrades of ovens and plants, additions and redesigns to plants. Those impossible projects you are struggling with are our bread and butter. JIPL has the expertise and depth of experience to cope with any new project.
JIPL is involved in a number of projects at the moment either installing new ovens or upgrading and refurbishing existing ovens. JIPL’s modular oven has proved to be a popular and affordable choice for a number of New Zealand industrial users.
For one of our local clients, JIPL is upgrading and modifying their batch powder coating oven with a suitably-rated overhead conveyor for manual movement of product from loading to unloading. For this project, JIPL is redesigning and upgrading an existing plant and oven. JIPL has designed the plant for a long, low-maintenance life with high reliability and minimal energy operation. JIPL designed the plant for significant productivity gains (30-40% reduced time per batch cycle) using JIPL’s special airflow oven design.
JIPL’s Ovens
JIPL’s modular ovens are designed using precision sheet metal components that bolt and rivet together. The system provides clients with the opportunity to reduce costs by assembling the oven in-house – which also has the advantage of operators taking ‘ownership’ of the oven. The heater box contains the circulation fan and direct gas-fired burner and the construction ensures minimum heat transfer through the oven fabric.
Airflow (volume and velocity) are critical for effective and efficient curing of coated products. The oven airflow will raise the product temperature within 4 minutes and will hold at temperature (180oC) for 10 minutes. An integral cooling system can be included to reduce product temperatures while still in the oven.
JIPL’s oven technology is very efficient and effective and will remain so for a minimum of 20 years – We value and take into account our long-term value to your business rather than purely cost alone.
Air-Seals – JIPL’s SECRET WEAPON
UNIQUE AIR SEALS IMPROVE EFFICIENCY BY UP TO 90%
Spillage of hot air from the entry and exit of almost any oven is obvious – and costly! What is not immediately obvious are the problems directly associated – temperature variations within the oven – leading to colour variations in paint operations, uneven drying, poor heat treatment, high fuel usage and so on. Unique JIPL-designed air seals have been proven to reduce heat loss by up to 90%.
The air seal design originated in the UK and has been significantly developed by JIPL over several years to reduce hot air losses (and ambient air ingress at floor level) by up to 90%.
For our local client, JIPL upgraded their oven and installed our unique air seals. The results were immediate – over 40 percent fuel savings, a reduction of dust-related problems by over 80%, far more even temperatures monitored on product passing through the curing oven – allowing a higher throughput.
The airflow technique has been applied to both heat transfer and cooling systems – providing extremely efficient heating and cooling of product. Fletcher Aluminium Ltd in Auckland has two small cooling plants on both their powder coating lines. These cool standard aluminium extrusions from 200 °C to around 40°C in less than 75 seconds.
Other applications include small, conveyorised heating ovens using the same technique – providing high heat transfer with integral air seals. The general airflow technique has also been used in the aluminium-ageing oven at Independent Extrusions Ltd.
When Jonassen Industrial Projects Limited designed and installed a fully automated powder coating plant for Temperzone NZ our air seals were an integral part of the design of both the drying and curing ovens.
Ovens designed to achieve consistently, quality production at high efficiency may initially cost more than standard systems, but the resulting efficiency cost benefits repay any ‘additional’ capital very rapidly and continue to do so over the long life of the plants.
JIPL provides complete systems – ovens, overhead conveyors, metal treatment plants, associated effluent treatment plants (solid and liquid ), mechanical handling systems and full management of projects.
We also provide expertise to assess existing plant, identify modifications required, design and install changes and provide financial documentation for Capital Justification. Let us help you.
