CDEnviro is a company that believes zero waste is possible. By asking the difficult questions and taking on the difficult challenges JIPL and CDEnviro continue to create new ways to turn today’s waste products into tomorrow’s assets.
Downer Launches New Waste Processing Facility with CDEnviro Technology
More than 21,000 tonnes of waste annually can now be diverted from landfill, separated, cleaned and sorted into valuable products and materials that can be readily reused or sold thanks to Downer’s new Detritus Processing Facility in Rosehill, New South Wales.
In June this year, Downer officially opened the new state of the art facility that sets a new benchmark in sustainability and innovation in Australia. Unlike many other recycling plants, it can recycle several different types of materials and Downer has found uses for those materials.
Downer’s Executive General Manager Road Services, Dante Cremasco, said the innovative Detritus Processing Facility creates economic, social and environmental value for material that would end up in landfill, or end up as a pollutant in our natural environments.
“The Rosehill Detritus Processing Facility is capable of cost-effective processing, separating and cleaning upwards of 25,000 tonnes annually from everyday waste streams such as street sweepings or stormwater. Approximately 85 per cent of it is then converted into meaningful streams of use such as organic matter, sand, gravel, metals and plastic.”
“The Facility is about pulling product, not pushing waste, as these products can be utilised in compost, asphalt for roads that Downer builds and building materials,” Mr Cremasco said.
This facility follows on from the installation of a road sweepings plant in Australia at Citywide in West Melbourne. The arrival of CDEnviro technology in Australia has seen
the practice of Road Sweepings Recycling transformed, as more councils look to achieve their waste reduction targets.
The Citywide Plant diverts up to 80% of Road Sweepings from landfill. The process of recycling Road sweepings has been proven by CDEnviro to divert waste from landfill while cleaning
and recycling the washing water within the system. This provides operators with the potential to recycle all incoming waste streams to achieve maximum reduction in waste to landfill.
CDEnviro systems create such efficiencies that costs are often recuperated in only a few months through savings on landfill, the reuse of materials and through savings on extra investment in waste storage equipment. CDEnviro road sweepings and gully waste recycling plants divert more than 85% of waste material from landfill, and producing secondary materials with a wide range of further uses.
